‘The Kettle is Always On’ is an intimate and irreverent look at the ways we search for meaning in a chaotic world.
Through handstands and acro-dance, two sisters reflect on their unconventional upbringing and the polarities that exist between them. Despite their diverging tendencies, ritual is what ties them together – to one other, and to themselves. Sometimes these rituals can border on the obsessive. Why do we still feel so tied to them? And how do we honor the rituals that matter to those close to us?
ABOUT
Nolanders makes movement-driven contemporary circus shows that reframe common experiences through a physical and acrobatic language. Over a decade ago, Nolanders began as a family project. Introduced to circus training at the same time as their parents, sisters Melody, Lily and Juniper found joy in the collaboration, creativity and experimentation of the collective endeavor.
Melody Nolan
Melody Nolan (1998) is a circus maker hailing from California. She received a BA in Circus Arts from Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam, NL, where she graduated in 2021. Following her graduation, she received the BNG Bank Circusprijs for her solo hand balancing performance “Haven”.
She also performs with companies such as Tall Tales Company (On the Move, 2021-2025) and BonteHond Theatergezelschaap (De Geheime Club 2.0, 2023), Daalman Theater (Steep Wiel Rol, 2023-2025) and the artist Ildikó Horváth (Centre off Gravity, 2023-2025).

Lily Nolan
Lily Nolan (2003) is a circus artist based in the Netherlands, specializing in handstands and acrobatics. She will be graduating from Codarts in July 2025. Lily has a background in modern and contemporary dance, along with partner acrobatics. Her passion lies in collaborative endeavors and exploring the dynamics of creating alongside others.
Lily has performed original work in events such as Circusplaneet (Belgium, 2022), TENT Back to Base (Netherlands, 2023), Funky Friday (Belgium, 2023), Cergy Soit (France, 2024), and Cirque Mania (Netherlands, 2024).
